Windows XP top of page
  1. Click on Start, then select "Control Panel".
  2. Double click on "Network and Dial-up Connections".
  3. Right Click on the LocalNet Icon, and select properties.
  4. Click on the tab labeled "Networking".
  5. In the white box labeled "Components checked are used by this connection" double click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)".
  6. Make sure the option "Obtain DNS server addresses automaticly" is selected.
  7. Click OK

Windows 2000 top of page
  1. Click on Start. Point to Settings and select "Control Panel".
  2. Double click on "Network and Dial-up Connections".
  3. Right Click on the LocalNet Icon, and select properties.
  4. Click on the tab labeled "Networking".
  5. In the white box labeled "Components checked are used by this connection" double click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)".
  6. Make sure the option "Obtain DNS server addresses automaticly" is selected.
  7. Click OK

  1. Double Click on the "My Computer" icon.

  4. With your right mouse button, click on the "LocalNet" icon and click on properties.
  5. Click on the button or tab labled "Networking".
  6. Click on the button in the lower right called TCP/IP Settings.
  7. Be sure the option 'Server Assigned name server addresses' is selected.
  8. Keep clicking "OK" until you have cleared the screen.
Windows 95/98 top of page
  1. Double Click on the My Computer Icon.
  2. Double Click on the Dialup Networking Icon.
  3. With your right mouse button, click on the LocalNet Icon and click on properties.
  4. Click on the button or tab labled Server Type.
  5. Click on the button in the lower right called TCP/IP Settings.
  6. Be sure the option 'Server Assigned name server addresses' is selected.
  7. Click OK, and keep clicking OK until you've cleared the screen.

  1. Double Click on the "My Computer" icon.
  2. Double Click on "Dial up Networking".
  3. Select "LocalNet" from the drop down menu.
  4. Click "More", and select "Edit entry and modem properties...".
  5. Click on the tab labeled "Server".
  6. Click on "TCP/IP settings...".
  7. Under the area labeled "Specify name server addresses" make sure option 'Server Assigned name server addresses' is selected.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Close.
Macintosh OS X top of page
  1. Click on the "System Preferences" icon.
  2. Click on the "Network" icon at the top of the window.
  3. Click on the tab labeled "TCP/IP".
  4. At the bottom left hand corner of the window click on the lock icon to make changes.
  5. Type in your computer's administrator username and password.
  6. Click on the drop down menu labelled "Configure", and choose "Manually".
  7. At the bottom of the screen the box labeled DNS Addresses should be blank.
  8. Click Apply.
Macintosh with TCP/IP (OS 7.6 and higher) top of page
  1. Click on the Apple menu.
  2. Select Control Panel and click on TCP/IP.
  3. In the Name Server Addr. field, make sure that the field is blank.
  4. Close the TCP/IP window.
  5. When prompted, Click Save.
Macintosh with MacTCP (OS 7.1 to 7.5) top of page
  1. Click on the Apple menu.
  2. Select Control Panel and click on MacTCP.
  3. Highlight PPP, then click More.
  4. In the bottom right, under DNS, make sure that the field is blank.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Close the MacTCP window.
