Trump travel ban leaves Senegal, Ivory Coast fans in limbo for World Cup

AP News TANGIER, Morocco (AP) — Fans of two of Africa's top soccer nations have had their World Cup plans upended because of a travel ban imposed by the Trump administration.

Senegal and Ivory Coast were added in December to the list of countries with partial restrictions on entry to the United States, which is co-hosting the June 11-July 19 tournament with Canada and Mexico.

Fans cheering for the two West African teams at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco were dismayed by the restrictions, which effectively bar those who don't already have visas from traveling to...

Wisconsin Gov. Evers casts doubt on his lieutenant governor's ICE proposal

AP News MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Democratic Gov. Tony Evers is questioning whether a proposal from his own lieutenant governor to ban federal immigration enforcement actions around courthouses, schools, day cares and other locations can, or should, be done.

Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez, a Democrat, is running for governor this year after Evers decided against seeking a third term. She is one of several Democrats vying to succeed Evers in the open race. Evers and Rodriguez were elected together in 2022 after Rodriguez won the lieutenant governor primary.

AP News DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — A teenage girl, two women and a man were killed overnight in Gaza after walls collapsed onto their tents during rainfall and strong winds that lashed the coastal territory, hospital authorities said Tuesday.

Dangerous living conditions have plagued the Palestinian territory, after more than two years of devastating Israeli bombardment and aid shortfalls. A ceasefire has been in effect since Oct. 10. But aid groups say that Gazans broadly lack the shelter necessary to withstand frequent winter storms.

The dead include two women, a...

Russia launches another major attack on Ukraine's power grid and other sites, killing 4

AP News KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia launched a second major drone and missile bombardment of Ukraine in four days, officials said Tuesday, aiming again at the power grid and apparently snubbing U.S.-led peace efforts as the war approaches the four-year mark.

Russia fired almost 300 drones, 18 ballistic missiles and seven cruise missiles at eight regions overnight, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on social media.

One strike in the northeastern Kharkiv region killed four people at a mail depot, and several hundred thousand households were without power in the Kyiv...
